In this article I am going to talk/ brainstorm about the idea of the last research humans will do and that research will lead us somewhere, where? for that, a build-up is required. So, sit back relax, and let's see the idea unfold.

What is classified as research?
The systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources to establish facts and reach new conclusions.
This is to be kept in mind that I am talking about researches with practical outcomes, not written on paper.
There are several kinds of research going on, on the topics of AI, ML and people are afraid that this could lead to human extinction, but the research I am going to talk about is more of a biological nature.
So, what's the last research?
Humans have always tried to enhance their body to be better at performing tasks, the end goal of everything anyone does is to stay alive, eat food & reproduce. And all this that we want is with minimum effort.
So in late 2030s scientists found a way to enhance human body by building a cell with chlorophyll in it and supported by human body so that they can produce food by themselves, the problem with the research was that they had no idea it could spread very quickly, they tested it on various animals and results were fascinating, the animals were able to survive a lot longer than usual and they didn't even require food for that, just sun.
The scientists were very happy, but they had no idea what was the future holds for them, the cells begin to spread in the air, and soon found various hosts in the nearby living bodies even humans were caught, there was no immediate effect but because of no visible effect no on new that even if that really happen.
The cells spread worldwide and now the changes started taking place, people who worked out realized that they were not getting hungry and were more energized by just sitting, this news was soon spread faster than the speed of sound. people figured something in the sun is making them energized. The scientist was trying to find a solution to fix it.
Why fix it? wait for it. The scientists were not able to work as the labs were robbed and this was happening all over the place as the security personals who were required to sit for safety didn't come as he realized there was no need to do his job he can get food from home, this started a big outbreak, the persons with low-level tasks started not to do it, there was no light no water, no workers in any factories, everything was shut down.
The people and animals just sit at a single spot all day all night and gain energy and save it for the night to pass. everyone was doing the exact same thing. The least energy used and can survive a lot longer.
The people started getting dirt all over them with worn of clothes as there was no need of doing that. The bigger the person the more he could energize for the night so by natural selection people started to become bigger.
A few thousand years later, The virus had stopped spreading, and now no new species that will be born will have that effect, everyone was just standing at a spot and making food there was so much that they had extra for others who couldn't make it. All the human-made things had disappeared, nothing was remaining, The way these humans reproduce was that they spread their cells and let them fall on the ground and it might contact with others and then voila.
Now you might be thinking how will the humans look like, for that I will say you have seen them. This all will make sense if you fuse the pieces together.
